    Incineration Bottom Ash (IBA), a complex general solid waste from MSW incineration power plants, contains abundant valuable metals and unburned residues, with great comprehensive utilization potential, and its metal recovery is crucial for improving recycled product quality and reducing environmental impact. HUICHUAN has developed a complete dry separation solution by optimizing eddy current separators and combining them with photoelectric equipment, fine particle gravity separators, metal polishers, and AI photoelectric/XRF separators, which integrates AI autonomous learning technology and features modular design for flexible adaptation. Compared with traditional and wet separation technologies, this solution avoids water resource dependence and wastewater discharge, adapts to water-scarce and strict emission areas, achieves up to 99% single-material purity, and provides reliable support for efficient and green IBA recycling.

    Incineration Bottom Ash (IBA) is the main residue from municipal solid waste (MSW) incineration power plants. Many people mistakenly regard it as "waste", but this is not the case. As a general solid waste with complex composition, IBA contains a large amount of valuable resources such as iron and non-ferrous metals, as well as some unburned residues, boasting high potential for comprehensive utilization and serving as an important part of the resource recovery system in incineration plants.

    Recovering metals from IBA offers value far beyond "turning waste into treasure". From a quality perspective, residual aluminum in IBA can cause building materials to expand and crack, seriously affecting their performance and service life; therefore, metal recovery not only improves the quality of recycled slag products but also realizes the circulation of resources such as iron, copper, and zinc, maximizing resource value. From an environmental perspective, waste-to-energy (WtE) plants inevitably produce by-products such as slag and fly ash, and the recycling and treatment of these residues are core measures to reduce environmental impact.

    The recycling and utilization of IBA in China has evolved from a single approach to a diversified one. In the early days, only scrap metals were recovered. With the increasing shortage of natural sand and gravel, its application has expanded to the construction field, serving as pavement materials, cement/concrete substitutes, landfill cover materials, etc., providing sustainable raw material supplements for infrastructure construction.

    IBA recycling essentially achieves resource separation through precise sorting, requiring the separation of recyclables such as metals (iron, aluminum, copper, etc.) and glass from combustion residues. This not only conserves resources but also reduces landfill volume, contributing to waste reduction; the upgrading of sorting technology is the key to improving recovery efficiency and quality.

    Traditional magnetic separation can only recover ferrous metals, with limited efficiency in recovering non-ferrous metals and stainless steel, and a single eddy current separator also struggles to achieve efficient full-category recovery. Wet separation is widely used in China to process such metals, but it is not only restricted in water-scarce areas but also the wastewater generated is difficult to meet environmental requirements in areas with strict emission standards. Thus, photoelectric separation and complete dry separation solutions have become more adaptable options. Relying on profound technical accumulation, HUICHUAN has optimized and upgraded eddy current separators, scientifically matching them with photoelectric equipment and fine particle gravity separators to build a complete water-free dry separation solution, providing comprehensive IBA recycling solutions: the modular design can adapt to material requirements of different locations, and can be flexibly adjusted or expanded when sorting tasks change, balancing water conservation and environmental compliance needs.

    HUICHUAN's equipment forms a complete sorting closed loop: additional photoelectric separation after magnetic separation can recover missed stainless steel; X-ray sorting separates aluminum based on density; fine particle gravity separators accurately separate fine-grained valuable metals; the remaining mixed non-ferrous metals are first processed by a metal polisher to remove impurities and improve basic purity, then accurately separated one by one through the collaborative operation of AI photoelectric separators or XRF separators, further ensuring separation effectiveness. In addition, its equipment such as magnetic separators and sensor sorters are mobile, not restricted by location, and innovative technologies guarantee high-quality sorting.

    Compared with traditional separation methods and the widely used wet separation technology in China, HUICHUAN's automatic sensing sorting technology integrated with AI autonomous learning has significant advantages. It can not only completely get rid of the dependence of wet separation on water resources to adapt to the working conditions of water-scarce areas but also achieve zero wastewater discharge, complying with environmental standards in areas with strict emission requirements.
